If you’ve ever traveled to Walt Disney World, you know that each park celebrates the heroes and protagonists of the pantheon of Disney (and Pixar) films. While you may see an errant villain wandering through the park now and again, they’re often a rare sight indeed, especially against the positive, colorful backdrop of heroic characters. 

But that’s all going to change. 

On August 11, 2024, Disney unveiled plans for Magic Kingdom Villains Land, a brand-new part of the Magic Kingdom theme park at Walt Disney World. According to the company, this new addition will be “a place where poison apples are aplenty and magic potions can ruin your whole day.” Given the success of recent films that explore the origins of such classic Disney villains like Maleficent and Cruella, Villains Land seems like a bold, fresh avenue. Here’s what we know so far.

A Brief Overview of the Magic Kingdom Villains Land

Although Disney announced Villains Land in August, details have been scant since then. We do know that construction has started, and that the new land will be added to the current edge of the park, next to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (next to Frontierland). It will wrap around the park and meet up with the Haunted Mansion, which makes perfect sense from a vibe perspective. 

But what will be in Villains Land specifically? Disney is still keeping its mouth shut but did promise that the new land will have “two major attractions, dining and shopping on an incredibly twisted grand scale.” Realistically, these major attractions will be rides, although it’s possible that one of them could be a show instead.

So far, the only visuals we have about Villains Land is a concept sketch. The illustration is dark and foreboding, and we can see images of sharp mountain peaks, twisted castles, and the dragon from Sleeping Beauty. According to the press release, the land will feature “Disney Villains we know and loathe from our favorite Walt Disney Animation Studios classic films.”

This line seems to imply that most of the villains will be from films released before the millennium, but that’s obviously speculation. There are some incredible “modern” villains that could add some excellent flair to the festivities. Some more recent examples include Mother Gothel from Tangled, Turbo (aka King Candy) from Wreck-It Ralph, and Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog

It’s also hard to pick a modern villain because modern Disney films don’t have cut-and-dry “bad guys” anymore. When looking at Disney’s newest crop of features (that aren’t live-action remakes), the antagonists tend to be more ambiguous, like generational trauma in Encanto and Turning Red

Still, the House of Mouse has had a fun time revamping its classic films with more modern storytelling. The Descendants series has featured reimaginings of classic baddies like Ursula, Captain Hook, Jafar, and Gaston. So, we may be seeing some of these newer versions showing up in Magic Kingdom Villains Land. 

But what about those dining and shopping options? Realistically, there’ll likely be something related to Snow White’s poison apple or perhaps a pirate-themed restaurant owned and operated by Captain Hook and Smee. No matter what eateries are in Villains Land, we’ll be eager to sample the menu as soon as they’re open!

Starting in mid-2025, most EU countries will require foreign travelers to apply for ETIAS before traveling to Europe. In the past, most travelers with a valid passport did not require any kind of VISA to travel to EU countries. While this remains true, they will need to apply for ETIAS before traveling. Here’s everything you need to know about this new program and how you can help your clients apply before they travel.

What is ETIAS?

The European Travel Information and Authorization System or ETIAS is a new travel documentation system that the EU is implementing for passport holders of 59 countries including the U.S.A. Most countries in the EU will require travelers to apply for ETIAS before visiting.

How do I apply for ETIAS?

You will apply for ETIAS on their main website. Note that they are currently not requiring travelers to submit applications at this time. Anyone traveling closer to mid 2025 should check their website for updates.

What’s required to apply for ETIAS?

Your clients will need to provide a valid passport (with at least 3 months of validity left and traveling before it expires). They will also need to pay a €7 application fee per person.

What type of travel requires ETIAS?

Your clients will need to apply for ETIAS if they are flying into a country that requires it or plan to step foot in a country that requires it. This includes guided travel, cruises and river cruises. The supplier will provide more information about ETIAS and what is required of the client before or after the booking.

Do my clients have to apply for ETIAS everytime they travel to EU countries?

No. ETIAS is valid for 3 years or until your clients passports expire; whichever comes first. If your clients renew their passport, they will then need to reapply for ETIAS before visiting most EU countries.

How can I apply for ETIAS on behalf of my clients?

As a Travel Professional you can apply for ETIAS on behalf of your clients. You will go through the same application process as anyone except there will be an extra step where both the client(s) and yourself will sign a declaration of representation stating that that all parties understand you are filing on their behalf and will do so correctly.

In some cases it may be easier to have your clients apply themselves with you walking them through the steps of doing so.

When should I apply for ETIAS?

You should apply for ETIAS BEFORE you purchase tickets or make reservations.

Most applications will be processed within minutes and at the latest within 96 hours. However, some applicants may be asked to provide additional information or documentation or to participate in an interview with national authorities, which may take up to additional 30 days.

Choose the date and Theme Park that you'd like to visit from the available reservations in the Disney Park Pass system via My Disney Experience. Please note that dates and Theme Park selections are limited and subject to availability.
