If you’re like us, you love all things Disney. We also happen to like word games and brain teasers. Crosswords and word-based games are a lot of fun because they stimulate both your creative and analytical mind. Now, there’s a new game in town and it has caused quite a stir among Disney fans. Foodle.com has introduced the Disney Wordle, and we can’t stop playing! We know you’ll enjoy this game too, so let’s dive in and see how it works.
Disney Wordle vs The Original Wordle
Wordle is a browser-based game owned by the New York Times. However, it wasn’t always part of the NYT pantheon of games. Instead, Wordle’s history dates back to 2013. A software engineer named Josh Wardle created the game, but he wouldn’t publish it online until October of 2021. Initially, the number of players was pretty minimal, but it quickly grew to become a phenomenon.
Within a month of uploading the game, Wordle had gained over 27,000 players, which swelled to over 550,000 by the end of 2021. The New York Times purchased the rights to the game in January of 2022, as the game reached its high point. Although its popularity has diminished since then, Wordle is still a lot of fun to play.
The rules of the game are simple. There’s a single five-letter word, and you have up to six chances to guess it. The word could be anything, but some helpful components make it easier to guess.
If you guess a correct letter in the correct spot, it turns green. If you guess a correct letter in an incorrect spot, it turns yellow. Black letters are nowhere in the word, so you can eliminate them from subsequent guesses.
Part of the fun of the game is trying to come up with new words based on the letters that are left. Some variations of the game will offer hints or tips, but it’s great to try and figure the word out without any help.
What is the Disney Wordle?
Although the New York Times owns the rights to the original Wordle, there are numerous copies of the game available online. One of our favorites is the Disney Wordle, which uses words within the Disney universe. Some of the words are proper names (like Dumbo), or they’re just words you may associate with Disney movies and products.
Like the “official” Wordle, this version offers a new word every day. You can subscribe to the Foodle newsletter and get the word in your inbox for maximum convenience. Unfortunately, there’s no way to play previous words, so you only get one chance to play per day. According to the website, their version can include anything within the Disney pantheon, including Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, and even the Muppets.
How to Play
The rules of the game are the same as regular Wordle. You have six chances to guess the word correctly, and the letters change color, depending on if they’re in the word or the right spot.
Because proper names may be included in this version, you might have to use all six guesses at first. However, the more you play, the easier it is to get the word in three or four tries. If you’re really lucky, you may even get it on your second guess!
Fun Tips and Tricks
If you’re already a word game enthusiast, you should be able to pick up this game pretty quickly. That said, here are some of our tricks to figuring out each word in as few tries as possible.
- Start With Vowels – Every word has at least one or two vowels, so you want to lock those down as quickly as possible. Use words that have multiple vowels, such as movie, stair, or similar words. Chances are at least one of them will be yellow, so you know what to look for with your next guess. Similarly, you should also try to use common consonants like R, S, T, M, N, and D. This will help you narrow the potential possibilities.
- Eliminate Impossible Words – A big reason why it’s possible to guess the Wordle without any clues is that it’s only five letters. So, you can eliminate potential possibilities that would have too many (or too few) letters to work. Some examples for Disney Wordle could include Mickey, Donald, Walt, and even Disney itself.
- Don’t Forget That Letters Can Repeat – Although it’s not very common in the game, some letters can repeat. One prominent example could be Goofy, which uses two Os. However, if that is the Wordle, it’s pretty easy to tell where those Os go since they’re in the middle. Also, consider that a word may be used in the plural form. So, while roar only has four letters, roars has five and is valid.
- Take Your Time – Six guesses can go by really fast if you’re in a rush to solve the Wordle. Instead, it’s better to take your time and eliminate words in your head as you get more clues. If you have trouble visualizing words with the letters you have left, you can use a sheet of paper to write them down.
- Play Other Word Games – If you don’t usually play games like crosswords or word puzzles, Wordle may be a little advanced. However, practicing with other games can help you expand your vocabulary and visualize words more easily. Over time, you’ll only get better and better.
- Play With Others – While Disney Wordle is fun to play by yourself, it can also be just as fun to play with friends or family. Plus, since the words are all Disney-related, you can get your kids in on the action too. They can guess words and you can work together to solve the puzzle. Not only is the experience fun for everyone, but it can help stimulate your child’s problem-solving capabilities.
