Commission Submission and FAQ’s
COMMISSION SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
Introduction
Commission requests are all completed in the same process regardless of supplier. The purpose of this sheet is to give you, the agent, a greater understanding of the commission process. This form explains in detail why we pay the commissions the way we do and how we pay the commissions to our agents.
FAQS:
- Submit commission request only after travel has taken place – all suppliers, all bookings including tickets.
- Submission request must be submitted 60 days from when the travel was completed.
- WDW doesn’t pay commission on 1 and 2 day tickets- Do not submit for commission (Has to be a 3 day+ ticket, unless indicated on the DTA or special event ticket) See DTA.
- DL: doesn’t pay commission on 1 day tickets – Do not submit for commission.
- Universal doesn’t pay commission on 1 day base ticket-Do not submit for commission.
- Disney benefitted trips or tickets aren’t commissionable-Do not submit for commission.
- Do not reach out to the suppliers about commission. Reach out to Boardwalk for this information. The supplier pays us and then we pay the agent.
- Please verify your commission amounts on the portals before submitting the requests.
- Each reservation number should be submitted separately.
- Disney Room only bookings should be submitted using PLAN number only.
- Allianz plans commission not available for residents of HI and NY, although you can still get a plan for them.
- Airlines do not pay commission on flights. Book in a package to get great price adjustments.
- Disney Placeholder and booking transfers only earn 10% commission.
- Please don’t submit cruise line group booking reservation numbers. You will use the individual reservation numbers for everyone in the group.
- Our suppliers will always and only give the agent the total/Gross commission amount. So this means that any documents you receive or commission totals you see on your agent portal the supplier is giving you the total commission amount. Then times this amount by .70 to get the agent amount.
Pre-Commission Submission Checklist:
- You have reviewed the welcome packet. (PDF you received upon signing up)
- Are you registered with all the suppliers (Step 2 and 3 of the Welcome packet )
- You have completed the Boardwalk Trainings (Online website introduction)
- You have sent your W9 or W8BEN to Boardwalk Travel Agency ([email protected]) These forms can be found on our website.
How do I enter my direct deposit information?
Our automated system will send you Melio payment instructions only after your first commission submission. So submit your first commission request first and then the system will create a Melio account for you via email.
HOW CAN I CHANGE MY DIRECT DEPOSIT INFORMATION?
If you have already created a Melio account, you will need to update your information in your Melio account settings. If you have not created an account yet that is fine, just email [email protected] and we can send you a new link.
Notes:
*Disney is one supplier that uses the pre tax amount when totaling commissions. You have to get this information upon check out when booking. They will sometimes send you the total on the confirmation email.
*There are 2 parts to calculating a commission. Total commission and Agent commission.
Disney Booking Example:
Part 1: pre-tax commissionable booking price(Disney only) X (supplier offered commission %) = Gross Commission
(Example: $5,000 pre tax amount X 10% = $500)
Part 2: (Gross Commission from part 1) X .70 = Agent Commission
(Using example above: $500 X .70 = $350)
Other Supplier Booking Example: (VAX, TAAP, Cruise Lines, Sandals, etc)
(commissionable price) X (supplier offered commission %) = Gross Commission (Example: $5,000 booking total X 10% = $500)
(Gross Commission) X .70 = Agent Commission (Using example above: $500 X .70 = $350)
Commission Payment Process:
PLEASE READ – Commissions are usually approved within 1 week, sometimes it could take up to 3 weeks to process. Please be patient as we sometimes have to wait for suppliers to verify travel. You will receive an email from our third party vendor Melio, requesting your direct deposit information. The Melio email/invoice will have the amount and the reservation number being paid included. We will pay commission using the name, address and information on file with your W-9. DO NOT CHOOSE TO GET PAID BY CHECK, It is not guaranteed and can get lost and will not be replaced. We will also deduct $5.00 from each commission where this option is selected and payment will be delayed.
*Each time you get an invoice you will be able to see what is being paid by looking at the Memo/Note section of the invoice. You can see the reservation numbers being paid on that invoice. Sometimes the payments are combined, so you won’t get an email about each one.
If you’re trying to find out what your agent commission is use the calculator below.
If you don’t know what the gross commission is check the agent copy of the booking email or log-in to the vendor and pull up the booking. Not all products receive 10% commission. See Commission Charts for %.
If you cannot find your gross commission please see the FAQs and Commission Charts. If you’re still not able to calculate your gross commission, email [email protected]
1. How to submit a commission request?
The following video will guide you through the process of submitting a commission request on Boardwalk’s website. It will show you how to calculate your commission, enter the necessary information, and ensure you have the required tax forms on file. This video provides important details on agent commission rates and explains where to find additional information. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us via email.
2. When will I get paid?
We typically process commissions within 48 hours or less. This is when we process your request, not when you will receive your money. If you select direct deposit, you should expect to receive the money 5-7 business days after processing.
3. Who should I contact about commissions?
Please email [email protected] for commission inquiries. Please DO NOT reach out to suppliers or BDM’s with questions about commissions.
4. Can I register with a supplier that we aren’t set-up with yet?
No. The Agency must register with a supplier in order for you to get paid. If there is a supplier you would like to request, please email [email protected]. Agents are not allowed to receive direct payment from a supplier.
5. How do I know how much commission I made?
Most suppliers include the total commission amount in an agency email sent to you after booking or during the check-out process. It’s important to write this down. Sometimes commission won’t show (Disney doesn’t show commission for tickets only). In that case you can look them up using the commission charts found on the supplier page.
Disney – you can find the commission tables in DTA under “training and benefits” and “commission”. Here you’ll find all of Disney’s commissionable products, their commission percentages, and how to manually calculate your gross commission. Be sure you’re using the pre-tax total.
VAX – once you’ve retrieved your booking you can click on the blue “booking administration” link to see the commission amount.
Expedia TAAP – open your TAAP Menu, then Reports, then you can search by itinerary number or date to see your commission for any booking.
Email your completed W-9 Form to [email protected]
We cannot tell you what to put on the W-9. However, the W-9 is used for tax purposes as the government wants to know who is getting paid. Think of it this way: If you registered a business or LLC, then use that information. If you didn’t register an LLC or business, then you will use your personal information, not Boardwalk’s.
Download W-8 BEN Form (for International Agents only)
Email your completed W-8 BEN Form to [email protected]
We cannot tell you what to put on the W-8 BEN. However, the W-8 BEN is used for tax purposes as the government wants to know who is getting paid. Think of it this way: If you registered a business or LLC, then use that information. If you didn’t register an LLC or business, then you will use your personal information, not Boardwalk’s.
