One of the best ways to experience Disney is via an all-inclusive cruise. While Disney cruises take off from multiple ports and travel around the world, the Bahamas holds a special place as a resort destination. For a long time, the main attraction within the Bahamas was Disney’s pirate-themed Castaway Cay. While that’s still an option, Disney has just unveiled (June 2024) its latest port of call: Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
The first ship docked at Lookout Cay in early June, and the resort looks spectacular. However, if you’re expecting another theme park-styled island, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Since this resort is so new, here’s what you can expect when booking a Disney cruise to the Bahamas.
What is Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point?
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is a brand-new resort owned and operated by Disney. The resort sits on the island of Eleuthera, which is widely known and appreciated for its pink sand beaches.
But what really sets Lookout Cay apart from other Disney resorts and attractions is that it’s much more grounded in history and culture. Specifically, the history and culture of the Bahamas and its people. The designers and Imagineers at Disney wanted to steer away from the swashbuckling adventure theme of Castaway Cay, opting instead to focus on Bahamian cultural influences.
According to the creative director, Kevin Thomas, “We’re not creating anything that’s a fantasy. We’re not putting people in a different time or place, but rather just really celebrating our unique, beautiful environment.“
Many Bahamian artists and creators helped design the look and feel of Lookout Cay to make it as authentic and representative of the island nation as possible. One such highlight is the Junkanoo Celebration, which showcases the art, music, and vibe of the Bahamas from a local perspective.
Another selling point is that Disney didn’t pave over the island to make room for the resort. Instead, Lookout Cay is built into the natural beauty of the island, creating a symbiotic relationship. Man and nature can coexist if you want them to.
Activities and Amenities at Lookout Cay
Because Lookout Cay is a Disney resort, you can expect a lot of kid-friendly and family-friendly activities. The Junkanoo celebration occurs twice a day, and it’s the perfect excuse to dance and shake off your stress and worries. The celebration also takes place at the Goombay Cultural Center, which helps guests learn more about the Bahamas and its history.
The resort is split into multiple sections. There’s an adult-only section called Serenity Bay, complete with its own bar, restaurants, and lounging areas. So, if you need to break away from the kids for a little while, you can find your Serenity nearby.
Character interactions are par for the course (as with any Disney resort), so kids can get pictures with the likes of Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Chip and Dale, and more. Characters usually hang out in the Play-Play Pavilion, which has all kinds of activities and toys for children to play with during their stay.
Since Lookout Cay is designed to highlight the natural beauty of the Bahamas, you may want to take advantage and snorkel in the crystal clear waters or hike along one of the numerous trails. Eleuthera’s pink sand beaches are perfect for relaxing and lounging, as well as taking photos for social media.
You can rent snorkels at the resort directly, or you can venture to other parts of the island and rent from a local vendor. Either way, the waters surrounding Eleuthera are incredible and worth exploring if possible.
Overall, Lookout Cay doesn’t have too many attractions. Instead, it’s a place to relax and spend time with your family while appreciating Bahamian culture. It’s wonderful to see Disney working with the locals and showcasing what makes the Bahamas so inviting!
How to Book a Discounted Trip to Disney Lookout Cay
Now that Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse point is officially open for guests, it is the perfect time to book your cruise vacation. However, as you can imagine, Disney cruises can be on the more expensive side. Even if you’re just going with your significant other, a four-day cruise can be tough to budget for.
But what if you could save money with a discounted package? Better yet, what if you could earn money back from your trip? Sound impossible? It’s not when you learn how to become a Disney travel agent with Boardwalk Travel Agency!
Travel agents get to book discounted trips for themselves in two different ways. First, they get access to special packages and deals that most people won’t ever see. The purpose of these deals is to help agents book more vacations to help keep places like Lookout Cay occupied. While these discounts don’t work for all trips, you can plan your vacation accordingly and save big.
The second way travel agents save money on cruises is by earning a commission. Since Disney is the one paying the commission, you can get money back from your own vacation. Imagine getting a check from Disney after taking a cruise to Lookout Cay!
Becoming a Travel Agent for Boardwalk Travel Agency
While becoming a travel agent can help you book discounted Disney cruises and vacations, the process might seem a bit complicated at first. Typically, travel agencies require you to work for them full-time, and you have to pass a probationary period before you can start booking your own trips.
Even worse, many agencies either charge you to use their system (as an independent contractor) or pay lousy commission rates (often no more than 10 percent). If you go the traditional route, it doesn’t actually make sense to become an agent to book a cruise.
Fortunately, you can learn how to become a Disney travel agent with no experience by joining Boardwalk Travel Agency. As a remote operation, we don’t set requirements for the number of hours worked or sales earned. This means you can start booking trips for yourself, your friends, and your family as soon as you join the team and pay a one-time membership fee. We also provide you with all kinds of training and support to help you be successful.
Best of all, Boardwalk pays up to 70 percent commission on trips!
On top of all these perks, you can make money by booking cruises and other Disney resort trips for friends, family members, and strangers. Over time, as you earn these commissions, they can pay for your next trip.
